Sunflower broomrape 2026: new races and how to fight them
Race G — the most aggressive in a decade — is now in southern Ukraine. Review of resistant hybrids and the Clearfield Plus protocol.

Race G of Orobanche cumana has broken most older-generation «resistant» hybrids. In 2026 it's confirmed from Odesa to Zaporizhzhia.
Resistant hybrids LG 50.444 SX, Syngenta SY Bacardi CLP, Pioneer P64LE25 — verified race-G resistance in NAAS Institute of Oilseeds trials.
Herbicide control Clearfield Plus (imazamox 40 + imazapyr 15 g/ha) + safety follow-up after 4–5 weeks. CLP hybrids only.
Rotation Minimum 6 years between sunflower crops on the same field. Less than that — parasite population explodes regardless of hybrid.
